April’s Webinar Live from New Zealand!

April 28, 2021 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Reproduction in the last of the Rhynchocephalians: insights and future work

Tuatara (Sphenodon punctatus), the sole survivors of a once-widespread reptile order, offer insight into development and evolution across Reptilia. This lecture will explore some of the unique aspects of their reproduction and briefly discuss the ongoing work to fill in major gaps in our understanding of this distinct reptile.

Sarah Lamar is a PhD candidate and lecturer at Victoria University of Wellington in Wellington, New Zealand, where her research focuses on reproduction in male tuatara. Broadly, her interests rest at the intersection of conservation biology, community ecology, and herpetology.
